Small dog, big city…at least in the eyes of Buster! We took our adventure to the lovely Lake Eola in downtown Orlando. Buster and his 2 human brothers are the best of friends…I mean look at all three of those smiles!!

Dax the Great Dane backyard session in Clermont, FL

central florida dog photography

Meet Daxter.

Dax for short. Although there was nothing short about this very large, fun-loving great dane! This guy loves to run…or gallop, really. I mean, he is practically the size of a small horse after all and sounds like one when galloping toward you at full speed. But this guy had the run of the land on this gorgeous property in Clermont. Among the rolling hills, he joyfully frolicked.

The best part was when he had to stop to take a drink. Most dogs would be looking for their water bowl, but no, not Dax! He prefers the hose!!

The sun set fast this early fall day and Dax took some time to relax and connect with his Mom. I really enjoyed this session with this gentle giant of a dog. Great Danes are just…so cool.

Family Session at Lake Toho | St. Cloud, FL

Lifestyle Orlando Pet PhotographerMeet Lallie. And her family.

Scheduling an evening session in the middle of the Florida summer is often a bit of a gamble. 89% of the time, it will have rained that afternoon. It can be a tough call, deciding on whether to go through with the session or to reschedule. This session was the result of a reschedule due to weather already (maybe even twice if memory serves me correctly!) but this time, we were determined to make it happen! We headed out to Lake Tohopekaliga (Lake Toho for short) and braved the incoming weather. The wind picked up and the skies got darker and darker…Lallie and her parents and sisters stuck around and we were able to get some pretty amazing (and unique) shots!

Family Photography session Lake Toho St. CloudPet Photographer outdoors lake tohoAfter family and pup headed to safety, I hung out for just a bit longer. Being a Florida native, I absolutely LOVE watching the storms roll in. (So much so that I changed my major to meteorology in college!) I am so glad I stuck around for this storm. This photo was taken about 4 minutes before the skies just opened up and the downpour started.

Are you a weather buff too? I love the idea of incorporating some weather into our shoot! (Safely of course!) Share your ideas with me, I’d love to hear them!

Backyard photo session with Chloe from Oviedo, FL

Central Florida dog portraits

Meet Chloe.

All I wanted to do was snuggle this adorable, soft, cuddly pup….but she was so scared! Before our session, Mom let me know that Chloe was a rescue and that she had a very hard time with strangers.  A lot of dogs are shy at first but Chloe, she ran and hid behind her mom the moment I arrived!  We took our time and I threw her ball, gave her treats, and eventually, she warmed up just enough to relax a bit in her yard where she loves to spend her days!

How cute is she!? Mom and her were inseparable most of the day but there were a few times when Chloe just found a nice shady spot to relax (because it was h.o.t. hot hot at this session…you know, one of those lovely summer mornings where the temps are 80 degrees at 9am?!) I loved curled up lip!

And of course my favorite moments are when the dog is looking adoringly just off to camera to none other than their Mama! Chloe is lucky to have found such a loving, caring family.

Is your dog shy like Chloe? Tell me about it in the comments! I’d love to hear from you! And if you would like your own backyard session for your shy or nervous pup, give me a call.

Golden hour sunrise session | Dog photography in Apopka, FL

Central Florida Dog photography

Meet Lois.

One of my favorite things about dog photography is learning about the stories of how a dog made their way into the lives of their owners. When Lois’ mom contacted me for a contest I was running I knew I had to photograph her. Their story is worth sharing and I hope enjoy it!

“We saw our Lois for the first time in a trunk of a car. Not exactly a magical moment, right!? We wanted to find a dog that reminded of us an Ewok. After months of searching, we found Lois and met up with the owner. There she was with her two sleeping brothers. She was the only one awake! We picked each puppy up, hoping we could determine which one would best fit into our family. At one point, Lois was trying to wake her brothers up to play. She showed the signs of a fun, playful, smart, and freakin’ adorable puppy. Unfortunately she was not able to leave her momma yet. Time creeped by until the day we finally got to pick her up. She is the best thing in our lives. She’s the one who puts a smile on everyone’s face, actually allows me to groom her, plays soccer with her pops in the back yard, and gives unconditional love (unless she’s mad at us).  I hope Lois’s pictures bring you as much joy as she brings us!”

Did you catch the part of her story about how Lois loves to play soccer? Turns out, she’s a better soccer player than I anticipated! Not only did she run and chase after the ball, she stopped it with her paw and actually picks it up and brings it back.

That last picture cracks me up, look at that dirt on her tongue! It was a little sandy but the location was quite stunning since we were able to catch the morning light just right in the wooded area within this park. Lois is a genuinely happy dog and I am so grateful that I got to experience the joy and love her parents have for her and vice versa!
